The 2012 MLB playoffs are almost here! The playoffs will feature eight teams and four rounds of play leading up to the World Series. The playoffs will start on Friday, October 5 with the National League and American League wild card games, and run through Sunday, October 21 for the final game of the American League Championship Series.

Cablevision has put together a special package for these playoffs. All games will air on TBS and the first division series may feature the New York Yankees! Your business can advertise during the playoffs for one game, or the entire series. The wild card games are single-elimination games, while the division games are a best-of-five series and the American League Championship is a best-of-seven series. In the case of shortened series, you will only be billed for the games played.

Prices for full Long Island coverage start around $1,400 per game for the wild card series, $1,050 per game for the division series, and $3,300 for the American League Championship Series. Rates will increase if the series features the Yankees. Cablevision is also offering an added value opportunity: buy one playoff series and receive fourteen 6am-12 midnight bonus spots. When your business buys two series, you will receive 21 bonus spots, three series will get you 28 bonus spots, and for four series, you will receive 35 bonus spots. If all five series are purchased, you will receive 50 bonus spots. These bonus spots will air on Headline News, ESPN Classic, MLB Channel, MSG, National Geographic, NBC Sports Network, SNY and YES.

Derek Jeter’s 3,000th Hit – Newsday Special Section

Newsday is printing a special commemorative section to celebrate Derek Jeter’s 3,000th hit. This will be a full-circulation section – home delivery and newsstands, printed on bright white paper. Newsday is printing the section in advance so it will be published the day after the 3,000th hit. Advertising rates are highly discounted and include color. In addition to the printed ads in the section, all advertisers will be entitled to a bonus web ad (estimated 250,000 impressions). When you submit the print ad, you may also submit a cube or a banner, which Newsday will then post for free on the sports section and/or Newsday.com. This special section will receive lots of immediate exposure when it is published and should have an extended shelf life.
