(ADRC) as a tireless advocate for those suffering with Alzheimer's Disease, as well as their caregivers and their families. Long Island Chapter Disaffiliates from National Alzheimer's Association

New York Nonprofit News reported on Alzheimer's Disease Resource Center, Inc. disaffiliating itself from the national Alzheimer's Association chapter. In the article, ADRC Executive Director/CEO Mary Ann Malack-Ragona talked about the national chapter's stringent standards the Long Island chapter had to meet, the way the money raised by the Long Island chapter was handled by National and the allowance of the New York City chapter to encroach on Long Island's territory.

Alzheimer's Patients May Triple

Alzheimer's Disease Resource Center Executive Director Mary Ann Malack-Ragona was interviewed by Newsday for an article regarding a recent National Institutes of Health report showing that the number of those with Alzheimer's Disease may triple over the next few years.

In the article, Ms. Malack-Ragona said the number of Long Islanders with AD is growing, as more family members are struggling to care for those suffering from this disease. She also discussed the rising costs of caring for those with AD, as New York State has cut funding for adult daycare centers.

Ninth Annual Alzheimer's Disease Education Conference & Expo 2013 to be Held on March 7

On March 7, Alzheimer's Disease Resource Center, Inc. (ADRC) will host its 9th Annual Alzheimer's Disease Education Conference & Expo 2013 at the Melville Marriott Long Island, located at 1350 Old Walt Whitman Road in Melville. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the conference begins at 9 a.m., following an introduction by Mary Ann Malack-Ragona, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of Alzheimer's Disease Resource Center.

Keith Lawlor Named LIBN's "40 Under 40" Award Recipient

Keith Lawlor, a board member with Alzheimer's Disease Resource Center, Inc., received Long Island Business News' "40 Under 40" award at a ceremony that was held January 24 at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury. "40 Under 40" recognizes the rising stars and future leaders of Long Island.

Mr. Lawlor is also Vice President of the ADRC's board and is Vice Chairman of the annual Col. Kenneth F. Lawlor Memorial Golf Classic, which is held at the Huntington Country Club.
