Care to Cook with Caroline

Bay Shore, NY — Alzheimer’s Disease Resource Center, Inc. (ADRC) is announcing the start of its new “Care to Cook w/ Caroline” program, an innovative cooking course designed to assist those suffering from early onset Alzheimer’s Disease and/or dementia.

Inspired by one of ADRC’s creative assignments for professional caregivers, the new program was the brainchild of Caroline Fitterman, who recently joined the organization as its new Director of Programs.  The cooking sessions are geared towards enhancing sociability, encouraging teamwork scenarios, and building confidence for participants – all set in a non-judgmental environment.

“Caroline came to us with the idea and we thought it was wonderful,” said Mary Ann Malack-Ragona, Executive Director and CEO of ADRC.  “Cooking is a great way to build team skills, create positive interactions, and allow our participants to share their own stories.  Sessions like this help participants feel a sense of success and pride after sharing the meal they worked on together.”

The program will start in January 2014 and will take place at ADRC’s headquarters in Bay Shore every Thursday at 4:00 pm.  For more information or how to register for “Care to Cook w/ Caroline,” please contact Caroline Fitterman at 631.580.5100, ext. 304 or Robin Lombardo at 631.580.5100, ext. 305, or visit
