Dorothy P. Flint 4-H Camp to Take In Baby Chicks Cared for by Central Veterinary Associates

What:              Maria Devlin, Administrator, Dorothy P. Flint 4H Camp of Riverhead, will come to Central Veterinary Associates’ animal hospital in Valley Stream to take in 23 of the 28 baby chicks that the veterinarians at CVA cared for.


On December 27, 2013, twenty-eight chicks were found abandoned in the freezing cold at a Petland Discounts pet store in Hempstead. A couple of employees discovered these animals and brought them to Central Veterinary Associates. From there, the chicks will be brought back to the camp, where they will be observed for educational purposes.


Based in Riverhead, the Dorothy P. Flint 4-H Camp is a 140-acre residential camp which works with Cornell Cooperative Extension of Nassau County to create a supportive learning environment so that children and adults can reach their full potential.

Directions:       From the Sunrise Highway: Turn north onto Rockaway Avenue. After 0.4 mile, turn left onto West Merrick Road. Central Veterinary Associates is on the right-hand side.
