Erik Callendar at the Long Island Game Farm
On August 2, Erik Callendar will be at the Long Island Game Farm Wildlife Park & Children’s Zoo from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Guests will have the opportunity to enjoy exclusive meet and greets with Erik and his reptile friends, including Twinkie, a 14-foot python, and Groucho, the snapping turtle.
At 11 a.m., Erik will introduce Game Farm visitors to a group of children from Madagascar via Skype and discuss his work in that country with his nonprofit organization, Wildlife Kids Club International. The goal of Wildlife Kids Club International is to build Nature Education Centers to provide environmental education to children in the United States and in impoverished villages worldwide.
From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., in addition to meeting Twinkie and Groucho, children will be able to learn exciting facts about the reptiles as they walk through the exhibit as part of a guided tour led by Mr. Callendar. Important facts about the animals are placed alongside their tanks for children and their families to learn about each of their habitats, feeding and personality traits.
Gifts and photos will be available for purchase in the Reptile Edventure Discovery Center at the Game Farm. All proceeds will benefit Wildlife Kids Club International.
