On Thursday, October 5, the Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce celebrated the grand opening of Metro Physical & Aquatic Therapy with a ribbon cutting that was attended by local elected officials, Chamber members and Metro Physical & Aquatic Therapy employees. The practice is located on 322 West Main Street in Patchogue.

Metro Physical & Aquatic Therapy provides physical therapy, aquatic therapy, occupational therapy, sports rehabilitation, women’s health and children’s physical and occupational therapy services. The practice is owned by the mother-and-son team of Sherrie and Michael Mayrsohn. Sherrie Mayrsohn opened the practice in 1982 after receiving her master’s degree in orthopedics at St. Augustine College in Florida. At the time, she was the first woman on Long Island to open her own private practice. Michael Mayrsohn joined Metro Physical & Aquatic Therapy in 2012 after graduating from Stony Brook University with a doctorate in physical therapy.

In June 2017, Metro Physical & Aquatic Therapy opened up its 11th location in Patchogue, inside Mr. D’s Ultimate Fitness, a local fitness center.

“We came here because we saw Patchogue as an up-and-coming, youthful area,” Michael Mayrsohn said. “This location also gives us a good opportunity to partner with the gym.”
