Mary Ann Malack-Ragona Presents “What You Need to Know about Alzheimer’s Disease”
(Bay Shore, NY) — Mary Ann Malack-Ragona, Executive Director/CEO, Alzheimer’s Disease Resource Center, Inc. (ADRC) will present “What You Need to Know about Alzheimer’s Disease” as part of ADRC’s Speaker Series over two days. The second event will take place at Sayville Public Library, 88 Greene Avenue, Sayville.
Ms. Malack-Ragona will discuss how Alzheimer’s disease is more than just memory loss; the facts and myths about the disease and its warning signs; an update on local versus national research; the essentials of long-term care planning; and how ADRC assists local families. Guest speakers include Robin Marks, Long Island Regional Director of Community Relations, Amber Court Assisted Living in Westbury, and Frank L. Buquicchio, Esq. CELA, Partner, Vincent J. Russo & Associates. Ms. Marks will address the topic of Medicaid-funded assisted living and Mr. Buquiccchio will talk about the essentials of long-term care planning.
There are over 5 million people with a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease, and 77 million baby boomers — 1 in 8 — are at risk for Alzheimer’s disease. Alzheimer’s Disease Resource Center, Inc. provides care and support for individuals and families coping with the diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease and is working to fund local research to find a cure for Alzheimer’s disease.
