P&P Medicaid Consulting, Inc. Brings Awareness to Medicaid Services for Dementia Patients During National Alzheimer’s Disease and Caregiver’s Month

MASSAPEQUA PARK, New York — More than 60 million Americans serve as caregivers to loved ones, nearly one quarter of which provide assistance to those affected by Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. In recognition of the selflessness of caregivers and the patients for whom they provide care, P&P Medicaid Consulting, Inc. is celebrating National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness and Caregiver’s Month. As part of this national initiative, the company is bringing awareness to the locally available Medicaid services designed for Alzheimer’s patients.

As Alzheimer’s disease is a degenerative brain condition, patients often require more personalized medical and assisted living care. Family members most frequently take on the overwhelming responsibilities of caring for loved ones with dementia, but the stress of this can attribute to a significant toll on his or her daily life. This includes negative effects on health, relationships and mental state, which may lead to burnout. To combat this problem, P&P Medicaid reminds family caregivers to seek additional resources to help relieve the physical and financial burden of caring for an aging family member.

“In today’s age, most caregivers are working full-time and raising children of their own, while also caring for the needs of aging loved ones,” says Paul Mertz, Chief Operating Executive of P&P Medicaid Consulting, Inc. “For those assisting loved ones with Alzheimer’s, the personal and financial tolls can be staggering. P&P Medicaid is available to guide patients and their families through all of the services and resources they need.”

Medicaid is a state and federally funded health insurance program that pays for the medical care of people who have low income and resource levels, or for the elderly. Although P&P Medicaid cautions patients and applicants that there are strict rules regarding transfers of assets and limits of income, these rules are much less stringent for the disabled or elderly (over 65) population. P&P Medicaid will guide families through the Medicaid process, while protecting and sheltering most, if not all, of their income and assets.

For those who meet New York’s eligibility requirements, Medicaid will cover all long-term care services in nursing homes, and long-term care services provided at home, such as visiting nurses and assistance with personal care.

P&P Medicaid is available to assist Alzheimer’s disease patients and their families apply for Medicaid and other services. P&P Medicaid handles everything in the application and document-acquiring processes and will appear on behalf of the applicant at the Department of Social Services. The company can also provide guidance in selecting home healthcare or nursing home placement options, along with assistance in applying to the homes.
