Pets as Guests: Southampton Inn Provides Accommodations for Its Furry Friends

Enjoy Pet-Friendly East End Destinations with Pet-Friendly Accommodations

When families go away on vacation, they are reluctant to leave their pets behind, but have no choice other than to keep them at a boarding facility because the hotel at where they will stay has a strict no-pet policy. However, more and more hotels such as Southampton Inn, including those with a reputation of being upscale, are becoming more open to allowing guests to bring their furry friends with them.

Southampton Inn has 90 luxurious rooms, with 16 of them designated as pet-friendly. For an additional $49 per night per pet, guests can have their beloved animals stay with them and enjoy their company; this eliminates the need for pet owners to pay for and make an extra trip to and from a boarding facility.

While staying at the hotel, visitors can check out some of the dog-friendly breweries and vineyards in the East End. For those whose pet need lots of exercise, there are a variety of walking and hiking trails and dog parks available. In fact, guests can bring their canine companions to the Lola Prentice Memorial Dog Park on Windmill Lane, where their pet can meet up with other dogs and get to explore the large, one-acre property that will keep them occupied for a very long time.

Once the day of exploring with your furry friend is done, guests can relax around the outdoor fire pit outside Claude’s Restaurant, located at the Inn. Guests are invited to bring their pets during Friday happy hour and enjoy half-priced appetizers and drinks between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. They will also have the opportunity to meet Bennedetto, the restaurant’s canine mascot, and to socialize with other pet owners as the animals get to make friends of their own.

There is a connection between animals and the restaurant: its name came from a cat that often stayed on the premises and later became its first mascot. That theme inspired Claude’s logo. In addition, the Inn is involved in local animal rescue efforts and is a major supporter of the Southampton Animal Shelter.

Both the Southampton Inn and Claude’s Restaurant are located at 91 Hill Street in Southampton. For reservations, or for more information, call (631) 283-6500 or visit
