Concussions Can Be Fatal If Left Untreated
Oftentimes, those involved in a motor vehicle crash will experience a rush of adrenaline, which causes their injuries to be masked for a few hours to even an entire day. This delay in symptoms can ultimately result in serious or sometimes fatal consequences, especially if a person has sustained any sort of trauma to the head. Many times, those involved in a crash will not realize that they hit their head. Unfortunately, this unknown trauma to the head can result in a concussion.
Social Media Can Destroy Your Case
So many of us enjoy the use of our social media accounts, but we often fail to realize the negative consequences they can have on a personal injury case. More often than not, a defendant will use the information available on social media to prove that a plaintiff’s allegations are false or exaggerated. For example, if a plaintiff is alleging that his or her injury has resulted in severe back pain but is then captured dancing in a sweet sixteen video, it will definitely undermine the weight of the plaintiff’s claim.
Long-Term Care for Traumatic Brain Injuries Can Be Costly
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), reported that Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI) are the cause of 50,000 deaths each year and 282,000 hospitalizations. A TBI occurs when the skull is penetrated from a blow to the head. Currently, the two leading causes of TBIs are slip and falls and motor vehicle accidents. Slip and falls account for 40% of all TBIs. Motor vehicle accidents account for approximately 14% of TBI deaths.
